Cedar Court Hotels Achieves Green Tourism Silver Award
A Silver Green Tourism Award is Just the Start for Cedar Court Hotels
Cedar Court Hotels is proud to announce that it has been awarded a Silver Green Tourism Award for its commitment to sustainable practices and environmental stewardship.
The Green Tourism Awards, run by Green Tourism, the largest sustainable certification program in the world, recognize hotels and other tourism businesses that are making a positive impact on the environment, communities, and economy.
The Yorkshire hotel group, Cedar Court Hotels, has been able to demonstrate a strong commitment to reducing its environmental footprint and promoting sustainable tourism practices. The hotel has implemented a number of initiatives, including energy-efficient lighting and heating systems, water conservation measures, and the use of eco-friendly cleaning products.
Furthermore, Cedar Court Hotels is dedicated to supporting local communities and promoting sustainable tourism by working with local suppliers, promoting local culture and wildlife, and supporting local events and initiatives.
Adam Graham of Cedar Court Hotels said,
“This award is a great achievement for Cedar Court Hotels and we are proud of what our teams have achieved, we are continuously looking to improve our Green Sustainability programme and getting awarded Silver is a great demonstration of all the hard work already put into the programme to achieve this. Our next target is Gold and with the onsite Green Teams they will now strive towards making this a reality in the next 12 months.
We would like to thank Green Tourism for their support and direction during the whole audit process.”
Plans for gold certification are well underway with a game-changing sustainability initiative in partnership with Heat Source Direct, a local company based in Otley. Our Bradford location will be the first to undergo a revolutionary transformation, with the installation of over 400 solar panels spanning across 5 of the hotel’s roof spaces.
This bold £300K investment marks a significant step towards a greener future, as the solar panels will provide 313kW of replacement electrical supply to the hotel over 12 months, significantly reducing our dependence on fossil fuels and lowering our carbon footprint.
Not only will this initiative positively impact the environment, but it also has the potential to generate 1/6th of the energy needed to power the hotel annually, resulting in cost savings for the hotel which we are excited to be able to reinvest across the group.
Wayne Topley, the Managing Director of Cedar Court Hotels said,
“We are thrilled to be leading the charge in sustainable hotel practices with this game-changing initiative in partnership with Heat Source Direct. This bold £300K investment in solar panels at our Bradford location is a significant step towards a greener future for our hotel and the community, and we are excited to see the positive impact it will have on both. We are proud of the recent achievement of Silver Green Tourism Award, which recognises our efforts in sustainability and environmental responsibility.
